Counseling for Individuals & Couples in the Austin, TX area
About Cheryl
I have been seeking all my life for answers to the questions of who I am and what is my purpose while pursuing my true and uniquely personal meaning of life. Answers to these questions began to finally be found and realized when I returned later in life to graduate school to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-S) after a 30-year successful career in the information technology corporate world as an executive program and project manager.
In therapy, I believe in using a wide variety of techniques, tools and methods as appropriate and needed for each individual client's background. Included in this primarily experiential approach are the trauma treatment methods of EMDR, Brainspotting and the Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM) to establish the needed resources to process and heal trauma and life’s disturbing events; and the Eidetic Method that uses imagery to open up a client’s access to their individual truths. Mind-Body-Spirit integrative techniques further expand the capacity of each client to get new perspectives on their lives, which serve to relieve depression, stress, anger and anxiety.
I am now fulfilling my own personal and mythic destiny as a counselor for individuals needing to find their own answers to overcome what has stopped them along their life path. Through my caring, compassionate and loving nature, I hope to offer a nurturing environment in which to find answers within and to experience your innate potential and happiness.
Services
Unresolved emotional wounds continue to keep us stuck in old behavioural patterns and reactiveness, and manifest in deep depression, anger, anxiety and stress. Processing through the trauma releases the stuckness which gives us freedom and flow in our lives.
It is often what we didn’t get in childhood such as the feeling that we are loveable and safe that keep us from loving ourselves and others. Identifying negative beliefs we hold about ourselves is the first step to moving beyond the limitations and hurts of childhood.
Stemming from the traumas of life and developmental issues are the disturbing symptoms of stress, anxiety, anger and depression that keep us from feeling peace and self satisfaction. Resolution of childhood issues and other trauma, as well as, use of tools and techniques to calm the body, mind and spirit work together to effectively relieve and often resolve the debilitating effects of stress, anger, anxiety and depression.
We all experience losses of loved ones, career opportunities, pets, relationships, etc. along life’s path which affect our feelings of well being. There isn’t a straight line for processing of these losses but there is relief and eventual resolution by being able to grieve these losses in a supported way.
Conflict is inevitable in all relationships. Learning how to effectively communicate and work through conflict to a better understanding of each other and ourselves is a healthy and realistic initial goal in any relationship. Finding ways back to each other to re-build loving connectedness is the next step.

I'm an "In Network" provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) and Cigna, which means that I accept clients at a contracted fee paid to me by the insurance provider. However, the client is still responsible for deductibles, co-pays or co-insurance as defined in their insurance benefits, which should be verified prior to starting therapy.
As an "Out of Network" provider for other insurance providers, I provide a Patient Statement Superbill that clients submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement.
